On February 20th 1974,and for months afterwards, Sci-Fi author Philip K Dick experienced a series of events which led him to become convinced that we were living inside a simulation. These experiences went on to inform many of his novels such as Valis and The Man In The High Castle.

These ideas came decades before Nick Bostrom's Simulation Hypothesis, and of course the films influenced by that, the most popular of which was The Matrix.

In 1977 he delivered a lecture explaining his ideas to an audience of students in Metz, France.

I took the audio from this lecture and performed a piece of music behind it. It's pretty long so just lie down, close your eyes, and let it wash over you...
